Houston we have a large army inbound.

They discuss how to make traps.
Tozcan thinks he found the blob that’s following Volunar. He thinks it’s a bad thing to use the blob because it could get waay too big.
Volunar begins to sense a second group coming in behind the 150 person scouting party. one.
They keep talking.
Volunar senses the number growing … it’s far more than 3000.
Tozcan wants to run away.
Tozcan is really from a military family and was a commander and was trained for special ops.
Tozcan pushes for honesty in the group.
Tanth and Vol go a ways away and start a communication ritual.
Upon communicating with Bahamut, Tanth gets the power to sense entities and is able to hear Bahamut’s voice clearly now. Bahamut tells Tanth and Vol that the army is led by an extremely powerful/evil/insane dragon. His name is Dhourgin. His ancestor had a magical item that opened a portal to the elemental abyss. His ancestor opened this and demons came pouring out and so the dragons and dragonborn all united in an unheard of alliance to repel the horde and close the gate and defeat the dragon.
The item that opented the portal disappeared for a long time. Dhourgin wants the item to open the portal. There is a wizard in the nearby town and he’s powerful and has the item. He knows the army and the dragon is after him. However he has grown lax and doesn’t realize the army is coming. Bahamut wants us to go and warn the wizard about the coming army and the Dragon leading it.
Talin is the wizard’s name.
They’re walking as they talk.
Mori is chosen as leader. We have a group therapy session. We introduce ourselves and our abilities.

Volunar carries an unconscious Tozcan for one round.
Battle! Tanthrataur is used as bait … again.
5 Goblins on 5 nasty mounts. 2 Fighters, 2 archers, 1 leader. They surround Tanthrataur and dismount.
Tanthrataur charges and deals 9 damage to the leader. 24-9=15. Leader is now prone. -Volunar Casts magic missile and hits the second archer for 2 points of damage. 14-2=12.
Valee uses Lance of Faith and hits the leader while he’s down 15-7=8. Leader is now bloodied. Tanthrataur gets +2 to his next attack on the leader. Valee gets a +1 to savings throws or her next attack roll.
*Mori shoot his crossbow at Fighter 2 and deals 4 damage. 15-4=11. But the bolt is still there!
*Tozcan does a sneak attack and a Sly Flourish against Fighter 2 and deals 15 damage. 11-15=14. Fighter 2 falls over and dies.
*Volunar attacks Archer 2 with magic missile and deals 8 damage. 12-8=4. Archer 2 is bloodied.
*Valee does a ranged attack to Archer 1 using sacred flame dealing 9 damage. 13-9=4. She gives +4 hit points to Tozcan until the end of Tozcan’s next turn.
*Fighter one misses his attack on Tanthrataur.
*Tanthrataur divine challenges Fighter One and hits for 17 points of damage. 21-17=4. Bloodied.
*Mori attacks Archer 2 with his crossbow and hits him for 9 damage. 4-9=-5. Archer 2 is dead.
*Leader stands up, pulls out a spherical device and turns the top half and throws it back up the road.
*Tozcan grabs fighter 2 and brings him to Valee.
*Archer 1 shoots his bow at Tanthratuar dealing 4 damage. 35-4=31.
*Volunar casts magic missile and hits archer 1 for 3 damage. 4-3=1.
*Valee casts heal on Fighter 2 and brings him to a stable condition of 5 hit points total.
She also used channel divinity and hits Archer 1 for 2 hit points. 1-2=-1. Archier 1 is dead.
*Fighter 1 hits Tanthrataur for 4 damage. 31-4=27.
*Tanthrataur attacks Fighter 1 and misses.
*Mori attacks the leader with his crossbow and misses, then tells people to run to the town, teleports 30ft towards the town and starts running towards the town.
*Leader runs toward the device. A portal opens up next to the device.
*Tozcan kicks Fighter 2 in the face … killing him … again. 5-6=-1.
*Volunar runs towards the device and casts magic missile, and explodes the device.
*Valee chases the Leader and attacks him with Lance of Faith, and destroys a helpless sapling.
*Fighter 1 attacks Tanthrataur, dealing 5 damage. 27-5=22.
*Tanthrataur says “Now you’ve made me really angry!” and attacks, dealing 11 damage. 4-11=7.
*Mori exits stage left.
*Leader attacks Volunar and misses.
*Tozcan yells to Mori and Tanthrataur "They’re still fighting the ^%
&#$^% soldiers."
Tozcan attacks the Leader and misses with his crossbow.
*Volunar casts magic missile at leader and hit for 3 points of damage. 15-3=12.
*Valee casts Lance of Faith and hits for 6 points of damage. 12-6=6. She also gives +2 to attack roles for his next turn.
*Tanthrataur throws his hammer and critically hits, dealing 11 damage. 6-11=-5. He is bleeding quietly.

Enter Volunar and Tanthrataur stage Left.

Story – 08/21/2010
Tanthratour lands and the crystal dragon transforms back into her human form, proceeds to kiss him on the nose and tells him that he’s kind of cute for a minotaur and she transforms back and flies off. Everyone in the caravan is soiling themselves or awed by the dragon. Mori is not freaking out, Tozcan is calling mating rituals at the crystal dragon … he’s ignored. Volunar and Tanthratour meet. Volunar leads Tanthratour a foot or two by his nose ring, thus showing that he is a servant of Bahamut. They both exchange names and Volunar teaches a few things about worshipping Bahamut. Vol and Tanth head back to the caravan because Vol sensed them from a ways away.
Vol calls to the caravan and ask for the main characters by name. The people that have soiled themselves are being helped by the heroes. They start gathering the guards again, and Vol helps. Tant helps by standing to the side, Tozcan gathers the horses, and Valee finds the heads of the caravan.
Vol and Mori talk. Vol explains that a goblin army are fast approaching and the group needs to fall into order quickly.
Vol explains this to the captain as well. There are at least 150 troops. The captain says the merchants will be sent ahead with faster guards on horse back. Vol suggests laying traps, but then he says that something bad will happen soon. Something very bad. The merchant’s leave the keys to the wagons with the head of the guard and take off.
From the side, there is a crackling sound and a flash of darkness. Trees start collapsing, smashed in a path as a huge black shape moves towards them like a blob. Vol is panicking, sweating. “Not again.”
Tanthanor asks “What is it?”
Vol shakes his head. “I don’t know.”
The captain orders the men to fire arrows. The arrows sink into the darkness, disappearing without effect.
“I have seen this many times. But each time it has a different weakness. Sometimes it’s fire, some times its water. I never know.”
Mori shrugged his shoulders and chucked a clod of dirt at the thing. It also sinks in.
“Captain, keep that thing out of range. It will kill, and it won’t be pretty.”
The creature is rolling towards them. The captain tells the group to split. Vol, Mori, and Tanthratour run ahead to draw the monster after Vol, and Tuzcan and Valee run to the side. Vol realizes suddenly that the monster will be hurt by being healed. Mori transports over to Valee to tell her about the healing.
Tanthratour runs up to the monster and set his hands on it in a spell. Valee also tries healing without success. When the healing happens, it tries to suck Tanthratour in. A flash of light comes from his hands, and the monster recoils, waves shake through the blackness, it slows. Valee gives him extra healing surges and they both take down the creature. The mass crumples into a little ball, and then explodes. Tanthratour manages to dodge.
“Where does this come from?” Mori asks. Vol shakes his head and motions to the group. “Let’s gather the others.”
Mori asks “Where does it come from? What do you know about it/ And what can we do about it? Because we don’t want to have to deal with this twice a day.”
“Before it came twice a day, but its only once a day lately. A wizard has cursed me with this encounter. I was healed twice a day by Bahamut, which was
Part of the curse doesn’t let me know much about him. All I remember is I opened up a box I shouldn’t have, and I became cursed. I prayed to the gods, and Bahamut offered his help on the condition that I would serve him from that day forth. He gave me the ability to know when they are coming. He also gave me other abilities. I can sense evil or good up to about five miles around me.”
The captain responds with “You are in my control for at least a day more.”
“What is the pay?” Tanthratour rumbles.
“Pay? Nothing. You came here for our help, and you said you’d give us help as well.”
“Agreed.” Vol responded.
“Does it comes in different shapes?” The captain asks.
“It comes in the same basic shape, but it has different weaknesses everytime.”
“Then we can use this form against it. We can have Vol get into a bag of holding and Mori can teleport with the bag onto the other side of the army, and hopefully the monster will take care of the army for us, and get some time to run.”
“Except I can’t teleport very far.”
“Do you have something that can make me invisible? Because if you do, I can turn invisible and run through the army, leading through the monster through the army. But there’s one more part of my story I need to tell you. I was told to help Tanthanor in his new role as a paladin of Bahamut. I was also told your names as those who can help me lift the curse. Those people are you.”
There was some silence. “Let’s hope we can get you to that point, Vol. This army sounds like a hard coming.” -Valee
The captain then spoke up. “You are welcome to go on your way. This guard is officially disbanded.”
(something something.)
“Are there any ravines nearby? If the road travels between two hills, we can make it so they don’t travel back. So we’ve got someone to make magical traps, do we have someone to make mundane ones?”
Everyone looks at Tuzcan. He responds. “What?”
Valee responds “Oh, come on, Tuzcan.”
“Do you have an axe?”
“Yes. I can give you what you ask for. However, I’m still under pact to protect those items. In the light of payment, you can take anything you can use for tomorrow’s battle, and keep it if you survive the night.”

Beginnings - Chronicles Before Tanthrataur and Volunaar

Story Before 08/21/2010
Valee’s group is travelling and they’re going through a pass in the mountains between the two towns. As they’re going through the pass they went around a turn and see some rocks falling down the mountain which causes the group to look up and find Tozcan running down the mountain from a halfling. The halfling is yelling, “Get back here”, “You scoundrel”, “etc.” Tozcan unintentionally runs into Valee by running off a small cliff edge.
The halfling actually lands. Tozcan grabs Valee and uses her as a shield between him and the halfling … really brave and valorous. Tozcan and the halfling start arguing. Tozcan asks his captive for protection. She agrees … without really wanting to. Halfling proceeds to kick Tozcan in the shins and Tozcan calls mercy and returns a medallion to the halfling. Tozcan runs back on the road towards the caravan, which he doesn’t know is there.
Valee and the group continue walking on the path. The group is kind of slow. The caravan is travelling fairly quickly.
Tozcan runs and sees the caravan and is recognized by some of the guards, so he turns back (again) towards the group that is ahead and runs that way. Tozcan runs through the group and yells to the halfling that the caravan is coming. The halfling panics and tries to steal a horse but is stopped, so he pays a solid gold medallion for a horse. The halfling outpaces Tozcan and Tozcan is yelling at the halfling to come back and pick him up.
Some time later the group passes Tozcan who is lying out on the side of the road from exhaustion. Tozcan decides to walk with the group. The caravan catches up to the group about an hour’s walk before the town. The group parts and goes to one side of the road while the caravan goes past. The caravan guards recognize the sole Dragonborn in the group as Tozcan tries to “blend in as a huuuman”.
The guards surround him and he grabs the cleric as a shield (again). It is comically ineffective as he is surrounded.
Mori asks Tozcan to let the cleric go and give himself up. They hogtied him threw him on top of the treasure wagon. (Think giant treasure chest, kid link opening up boss key chest) Tozcan attempts to annoy the guards with “my nose itches” and such, they get annoyed and muzzle him and put a bag over his head. He starts to blow the bag in and out. <sigh>
They get to the town and throw Tozcan in jail. Tozcan attempts to convince the guard to let him go, because he didn’t actually “steal” anything. <cough> Tozcan is trying to convince the guard to let him out. While trying to do so, he “accidentally” breakes the bars, and then puts them back.
Valee fetches Mori, then Tozcan tries to convince Mori of his innocence. Tozcan gets let out of the jail when the caravan left. Side note: the sheriff was annoyed by Tozcan.
Tozcan gives money to Valee to give back to a peasant boy that traded his horse for the jewel earlier. Tozcan still feels bad about stealing the medallion. He runs to catch up with the caravan. He is hired by the merchants to help guard the caravan as a scout. Tozcan +50 gold coins. Tozcan snuck 20 gold pieces back into the merchant’s bag who had the medallion stolen from. Tozcan -20 gold coins.
Tozcan is scouting and sees a campfire in the forest. Tozcan sneaks up to it and finds two goblins and two fire beetles. They are talking about how they escaped from their “horde”. Tozcan returns to the captain and tells him about it. The captain sends Tozcan, Valee and Mori to dispose of the creatures. They head back to the camp and kill the creatures and rejoin the camp.
A few nights later Valee, Mori and Tozcan are sitting around the campfire. Valee gets the backstories out of Tozcan and Mori (but not the complete story). Later that night, Valee plays dice with Mori and Tozcan(truth or dare) and Mori learns “something”. It gets to Tozcan and Tozcan dares Mori to catch a wild goose and put it in the captains tent. Mori wins a role that makes it so Tozcan needs to take the blame for the goose event. And Valee is dared to help them.
Valee and Mori catch a wild goose … and it takes forever. Mainly due to their lack of … skill. Tozcan was watching them from the distance and fell out of a tree laughing … go figure.
In the morning Mori snuck the goose into the captain’s tent. Valee distracted the guard to accomplish this. The goose flopped onto the floor in exhaustion.
Tozcan comes into the captain’s tent and tells him that he has a present for the captain. The captain wakes up later in the morning and comes at Tozcan and changes his duties to Pooper scooper. Tozcan is overjoyed that he needs to sit on the wagons from now on.
